Kaulig Racing lands former Trackhouse Racing executive

BRISTOL, Tenn -- Kaulig Racing has made a move to bolster its organization by hiring former Trackhouse Racing executive Ty Norris.

Kaulig Racing announced the news Friday afternoon ahead of the Bristol Motor Speedway races.

"Today Kaulig Racing announces the addition of NASCAR industry veteran Ty Norris to the team," the statement said. "Norris will serve as the team's Chief Business Officer, focusing on partnerships and long-term strategy alongside team owner Matt Kaulig and team President Chris Rice.

"Bringing Norris and his wealth of knowledge to the executive team is one of several major moves Kaulig and Rice are making to solidify the trajectory of its NASCAR Cup Series program well into the future."

Norris previously served as President and Chief Business Officer at Trackhouse Racing, starting with the team's inception in 2021. However, Jordan Bianchi of The Athletic reported on Sept. 17 that Norris and the Cup organization had amicably parted ways.

Bianchi also reported that the move would lead to an opportunity at Kaulig Racing.

Norris helped guide Trackhouse Racing through its early days and as the organization expanded. It went from a one-car team with only Daniel Suarez as the driver to having two full-time entries with Ross Chastain as the second driver. Trackhouse Racing has also fielded a third entry on a part-time basis.

"We greatly appreciate the role Ty Norris has played in the creation and growth of Trackhouse Racing," team owner Justin Marks said in a statement on Friday.

"We have a bright and exciting future thanks to his contributions. We wish our friend the best of luck."

Along with his tenure at Trackhouse Racing, Norris has spent decades in the sport. He had a tenure at RJ Reynolds Tobacco in the early 1990s before he joined Dale Earnhardt, Inc. in 1996. He remained with the organization through the end of the 2003 season. He departed ahead of the 2004 Daytona 500.

Norris's time in NASCAR also included a brief stint with Speedway Motorsports, just over a decade at Michael Waltrip Racing, and a few years with Spire Sports + Entertainment.
