History-making racer Katherine Legge is taking on a new challenge. She will join forces with Live Fast Motorsports to make her Cup Series debut.
According to a press release, Legge will take over the No. 78 Chevrolet Camaro this weekend at Phoenix Raceway. She will attempt to qualify for her first-ever Cup Series race. She will become the first female driver since Danica Patrick in 2010 to team up with a female NASCAR team owner.
"We're happy to partner with Katherine for this race," said Live Fast Motorsports co-owner and CEO Jessica McLeod.
"The opportunity to have such a versatile and dynamic championship-winning driver join our program is exciting for everyone on our team. This partnership reflects our commitment to providing opportunities for drivers making their way into the NASCAR Cup series in the Next Gen era."

Legge, a native of England, has made five previous starts in NASCAR. She made four Xfinity Series starts for JD Motorsports in 2018, highlighted by a 14th-place finish at Road America. She then joined SS GreenLight Racing at Road America in 2023. A fuel pump issue ended her day early.
Of course, Legge is known more for her starts in other series. She is one of nine women to compete in the Indy 500. She secured seven podium finishes in seven starts in the now-inactive American Le Mans Series. She won four races in IMSA, including the Six Hours of the Glen at Watkins Glen International.
"Entering the NASCAR Cup Series is a dream come true," Legge said in a statement. "I'm excited to team up with Live Fast Motorsports for Phoenix and to represent our sponsors DROPLiGHT and Sherfick Companies.
"Racing stock cars has been an incredibly fun and new challenge that's given me a renewed sense of vigor for this sport. As always, I'm grateful for the opportunity to do what I love and am inspired by all of the effort, preparation, and behind the scenes work it takes to get here."
