Juan Pablo Montoya is making his return to the NASCAR Cup Series for a one-off start.

The veteran driver with wins in multiple racing series will join 23XI Racing for one more start. He will drive the No. 50 Toyota Camry XSE at Watkins Glen International with Mobil 1 as his primary sponsor.

This race will mark Montoya's first start in NASCAR since the 2014 season when he suited up for Team Penske.

"I'm looking forward to getting back in a Cup car and racing at Watkins Glen -- a track I really enjoy and had the chance to experience earlier in my career," Montoya said in a press release. "It's an honor to celebrate the Mobil 1 team's remarkable legacy in racing and be recognized for my contributions to motorsports.

"The Mobil 1 brand was one of my first sponsors when I started racing, so to represent the brand again as they celebrate this milestone will be so special. I'm also excited to work with 23XI and experience what the team is building."

Montoya, who raced full-time in Cup from 2007-13, has achieved success in a variety of racing series. He won the CART championship in 1999 and a championship in IMSA in 2019. He won the Indy 500 twice and the Rolex 24 at Daytona three times.

Montoya also won seven races in Formula 1 between 2001-05.

"Juan Pablo Montoya is a world-class driver who has won in everything he's driven, and he will be a great closer to the 50th-anniversary celebration we've had in NASCAR with the No. 50 Mobil 1 Toyota," said Steve Lauletta, President of 23XI Racing.

"The events have highlighted racing legends as well as what's next in motorsports, and 23XI has been honored to have been a part of adding to the Mobil 1 legacy and celebrating such a momentous occasion."

The race at Watkins Glen is the third for the No. 50 Toyota. 23XI Racing has fielded the entry at three different Cup Series events this season while helping Mobil 1 celebrate its 50th anniversary.

Kamui Kobayashi drove the entry first at Circuit of the Americas. Corey Heim was next at Nashville Superspeedway. Montoya will round out the lineup with his start at Watkins Glen. All three drivers will share the spotlight later this season with the release of a content series focusing on their starts.

For now, however, Montoya will prepare to compete once again at a track where he once won a Cup Series race.
