John Hunter Nemechek makes soda wakesurf

John Hunter Nemechek has found a new way to advertise one of his sponsors -- showing that a can of Olipop has the ability to wakesurf.

The Legacy Motor Club driver posted a video on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, that showed him riding in the wake of a boat. A person then handed Nemechek an Olipop costume, which the driver donned while continuing to wakesurf.

Once Nemechek had the costume fully on, he began weaving back and forth while showing that, yes, Olipop can indeed surf. For those keeping track, the costume depicted a can of Classic Root Beer.

Olipop is a new addition to the Legacy Motor Club sponsor lineup. The organization and the prebiotic soda company joined forces back in April ahead of the race weekend at Texas Motor Speedway.

Legacy Motor Club said in a press release that Olipop would have a prominent place on the No. 42 Toyota Camry XSE, starting with the April 14 race at Texas Motor Speedway. The soda company has remained with Nemechek and the No. 42 ever since.

"Partnering with Olipop is a win-win for everyone," Nemechek said in April. "The business-to-business opportunities on the No. 42 makes so much sense and I am a huge fan of this product.

"I'm really health-conscious and Olipop comes in so many flavors so there are a bunch of options. It's nice to know I can enjoy a beverage like this that is actually good for you at the same time."

The fun video focusing on wakesurfing is the latest example of Nemechek providing a behind-the-scenes look at his first season back in the NASCAR Cup Series. He has also spent considerable time this season filming content for a video series on his YouTube channel.

The North Carolina native has shown off every race weekend on the NASCAR schedule, some of which have featured him also competing in the Xfinity Series for Joe Gibbs Racing. One video also showed his first race weekend in Chicago and his experience throwing out the first pitch at a Cubs game.
