iRacing, IndyCar join forces for simulation video game in 2026

iRacing Studios, a leading developer of simulation racing games, has landed a long-term licensing agreement with the NTT IndyCar Series. This will lead to the release of an IndyCar game next year.

According to a press release, iRacing Studios will develop an IndyCar title for PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam. This simulation game will arrive on these platforms in the second half of 2026 while providing fans with the opportunity to get behind the wheel of numerous open-wheel race cars.

The IndyCar simulation game will not solely focus on the top racing series. It will also feature the secondary Indy NXT by Firestone series. The game will feature a career mode, online modes, and licensed drivers from both racing series.

"IndyCar fans have long been clamoring for a standalone title for consoles, and we're excited to give them what they're looking for in 2026," said Tony Gardner, president, iRacing.com Motorsport Simulations.

"iRacing Studios' standalone IndyCar title will offer all the excitement of the NTT IndyCar Series and an immersive experience that fans of all ages can enjoy. We are already very excited about how the game is coming together."

This partnership will not mark the first time that a simulation game has focused on IndyCar. iRacing noted that its predecessor, Papyrus Racing Games, previously created IndyCar games in the late 1980s and mid-1990s.

This version of the developer will work with current drivers and teams to make this product more accurate. This will specifically include Team Penske's Scott McLaughlin.

"I'm thrilled to be a part of the development process for iRacing Studios' new IndyCar title," said McLaughlin. "It's an honor to work with a team that has developed such amazing products to help deliver IndyCar's first dedicated title in quite some time.

"It's already an exciting time to be an IndyCar fan for so many reasons, and this game will take the fans' at-home driving experience to the next level!"

This IndyCar game will follow another iRacing product focused on a different racing series. "NASCAR 25," the company's upcoming simulation for NASCAR, will release on Oct. 14, 2025.

It will feature drivers and teams across the ARCA Menards Series, Craftsman Truck Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series, and NASCAR Cup Series. "NASCAR 25" will allow fans to race across all of the tracks currently on the schedules in career mode, quick race mode, and online.
