Hendrick Motorsports partners with rising driver for Xfinity debut

The No. 17 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro will feature a new driver this weekend at Dover Motor Speedway. Jake Finch will partner with the organization to make his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut.

Finch, the son of former Cup Series owner James Finch, will drive the No. 17 Chevrolet with HendrickCars.com as his primary sponsor. He will become the sixth driver to make a start in the Xfinity Series entry while following Chase Elliott, William Byron, Kyle Larson, Alex Bowman, and Corey Day.

The 20-year-old Finch has competed in 18 ARCA Menards Series races since the 2022 season. He has scored 12 top-10 finishes, five top-fives, and one win. He took the No. 20 Venturini Motorsports entry to victory lane at Talladega Superspeedway last season after starting from the pole and leading all 76 laps.

Finch has made two starts at Dover Motor Speedway in the ARCA Menards Series East. He finished sixth in his first trip to the Monster Mile in 2022. He then won in 2023 after leading 89 of the 127 laps.

Finch will now join another winning organization for his Xfinity Series debut. He will drive the No. 17, an entry that Hendrick Motorsports used to return to the second-tier NASCAR series in 2022.

This No. 17 Chevrolet has appeared in 31 races since Hendrick returned to the Xfinity Series. This entry has featured several drivers, primarily the four full-time Cup Series drivers. Boris Said, Rajah Caruth, and Day are the other three drivers to get behind the wheel.

Three of these drivers have parked the No. 17 in victory lane. Elliott won Charlotte Motor Speedway last season and Byron won at Charlotte Motor Speedway this season.

Larson has two wins in the No. 17. He captured last season's race at Circuit of the Americas and this season's race at Bristol Motor Speedway.

The No. 17 will return to the track on Saturday, July 19, at Dover Motor Speedway. The CW Network will provide coverage for the race and Finch's debut, along with the Performance Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
