Harrison Burton secures spot for 2025 NASCAR season

Harrison Burton will continue to compete full-time in NASCAR in 2025 as he moves to the Xfinity Series.

According to a press release, Burton will join AM Racing to drive the team's flagship Ford Mustang next season. He will make his return to Xfinity after three full seasons in the Cup Series, a run that included a win at Daytona International Speedway.

Wood Brothers Racing announced earlier in the season that Josh Berry will replace Burton in the No. 21 Ford after the season ends. Berry will take over the entry for 2025 and beyond.

"I'm excited to join AM Racing and help build it into the race-winning race team I believe it can and will be," Burton said in a statement. "I think this will be a great opportunity for me to take the things I've learned in the Cup Series, bring those to the Xfinity Series, and be the best driver I can be.

"It's a blessing to continue my NASCAR journey, and I intend to make the most of this opportunity."

Burton previously competed full-time in the Xfinity Series in 2020-21. He drove for Joe Gibbs Racing in both seasons, and he reached the playoffs twice.

The 2020 season was the best of Burton's young career. He captured four wins in the No. 20 Toyota Supra -- California Speedway, Homestead-Miami Speedway, Texas Motor Speedway, and Martinsville Speedway.

The win at Texas, in particular, featured Burton chasing down Noah Gragson over the final laps of the race and then passing the driver of the No. 9 Chevrolet coming out of the final turn.

"AM Racing is proud to welcome Harrison Burton on board," said Team President Wade Moore. "He is a first-class individual and has already proven that he will immediately impact each team member here at AM in a positive manner.

"His experiences across NASCAR's National Series will position him to be a leader and a catalyst in our pursuit of Victory Lane and the goals we ultimately envision for this program."

AM Racing has sought a full-time driver since midway through the season. Hailie Deegan was the driver of the No. 15 Ford for the first 17 races, but she and the team mutually parted ways.

The No. 15 Ford has featured multiple drivers as the season has progressed. The list includes Berry, Joey Logano, Logan, Gus Dean, and Lawless Alan. Adding Burton for 2025 shores up the roster.

AM Racing also confirmed in its announcement that Roush Yates Engines will continue to provide power for the Ford Mustang. AM Racing will also have a technical alliance with Haas Factory Team.

AM Racing will provide more details about Burton's move to the team in the future.
