FloSports, NASCAR boost Virginia Triple Crown purse by $50k

NASCAR and FloSports are teaming up to support a prestigious series of crown jewel Late Model races. They have added $50,000 to the prize purse of the Virginia Triple Crown, which runs from June until September.

What is the Virginia Triple Crown? NASCAR views it as a celebration of short track culture. But in true racing terms, it is the championship awarded to the driver with the best average finish across three crown jewel events.

The Virginia Triple Crown starts with the Thunder Road Harley-Davidson 200 at South Boston Speedway on June 28. It continues with the Hampton Heat at Larry King Law's Langley Speedway on July 19. The series ends with the ValleyStar Credit Union 300 at Martinsville Speedway on Sept. 27.

Past iterations of this crown jewel series only featured the top three finishers locking up some money. The team-up between NASCAR and FloSports extends this to the top 10 finishers in the series.

The winner of the Virginia Triple Crown will secure $20,000. Second place gets $10,000, third place gets $7,500, fourth place gets $5,000, and fifth place gets $2,500. The drivers who finish in sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, and 10th place will all secure $1,000.

Drivers must compete in all three events to be eligible for the championship and prize money.

"With FloRacing's involvement in the Virginia Triple Crown, what was already a most sought-after achievement for the drivers to win, at three of the most storied tracks in NASCAR, has a much larger presence," said Martinsville Speedway President Clay Campbell in a press release.

"While this extra incentive will attract more competitors, really, the fans are going to benefit. It's hard for me to imagine the great racing and drama they will see at South Boston, Langley, and Martinsville, whether in person at the track or watching on FloRacing. I'm looking forward to seeing who comes away with the Virginia Triple Crown when the checkered flag drops on the ValleyStar Credit Union 300 on September 27."

FloRacing will provide live or on demand coverage for every lap of the Virginia Triple Crown to those with a FloRacing subscription at www.floracing.com or on the FloRacing app.
