Daniel Suarez is joining forces with JR Motorsports for a special event in June. He will return to the NASCAR Xfinity Series for a double-duty weekend in Mexico City.
According to a Tuesday announcement, Suarez will make his first Xfinity start of 2025 as the second-tier series returns to Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. He will drive the No. 9 JR Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro with Quaker State as his primary sponsor on Saturday, June 14 (4:30 p.m. ET, CW).
This event will be special for Suarez, a Monterrey native who delivered extensive success in the NASCAR Peak Mexico Series before moving to Charlotte.

"Having the opportunity to compete in the Xfinity Series race makes the weekend in Mexico City even better," Suarez said in a press release. "I've been very impressed with how fast JR Motorsports has been this season, and I can't wait to get behind the wheel of the Quaker State Chevrolet in a few weeks.
"Being born and raised in Mexico is incredibly special to me. I have dreamed about racing in my home country every day since I left Mexico to chase my NASCAR dream in 2011. I appreciate everyone at Quaker State and JR Motorsports coming on board to make this a reality."
The Xfinity Series competed at the Mexico City road course between 2005 and '08. Suarez was not active in NASCAR at this time, so he doesn't have experience racing there in the second-tier series. Taking on the Xfinity event will provide Suarez with an opportunity to familiarize himself with all 15 turns before the Cup Series race on Sunday, June 15.
This race will mark Suarez's first start for JR Motorsports. His Xfinity starts last season were split between SS GreenLight Racing and DGM Racing. It will also provide an opportunity to pursue his first road course win in an Xfinity car. His three wins from his championship season (2016) were at Dover, Michigan, and Homestead.
"Mexico has been loving motorsports for a very long time, and I feel like, slowly, that has also changed into NASCAR," Suarez added. "NASCAR is a very important sport for Mexico, and it continues to grow with the NASCAR Mexico Series and now the Cup and Xfinity Series going there. It's going to be a big deal. There are a lot of super excited people."
