Option reportedly emerges for a Daytona 500 ride for Danica Patrick

With less than a month to go before the 2018 Daytona 500, Danica Patrick is still looking for a ride.

Last November, Patrick announced she would like to run two final races before ending her career. The two-race package is now being dubbed the "Danica Double" and includes the Daytona 500 and Indy 500.

Patrick has been involved in a long search process to ensure she is able to finish her career with these two races. She recently secured sponsorship via her former sponsor Go Daddy, who will sponsor her for both races if she's able to secure rides for them.

Now that she has sponsorship, Patrick's in a much better position. Apparently, there is one viable possibility for the Daytona 500 that would involve her driving a car for Tommy Baldwin and Premium Motorsports. Baldwin is the competition director for Premium Motorsports. If Patrick were to run the race for Premium Motorsports she would do so with an RCR chasis and an ECR engine, according to Adam Stern with the Sports Business Journal.

ECR provides engines for RCR, Germain Racing, JTG Daugherty Racing, and Circle Sport-Leavine Family Racing.

The rumors have yet to be confirmed by Patrick or her associates. But this is definitely a glimmer of hope after a rough patch of bad news as of late from teams such as Chip Ganassi Racing, Richard Childress Racing and Schmidt Peterson Motorsports, all stating that they would not assist Patrick by offering her a ride for either race this season.

With sponsorship secured she has the toughest part out of the way, now hopefully she'll be able to get behind the wheel for these final two races.
