After announcing her plans for what is now being referred to as the “Danica Double,” Danica Patrick’s began searching for rides for the Daytona 500 and Indy 500.
The search took far longer than she expected, but after securing sponsorship with her original primary sponsor in Go Daddy, doors began to open. Patrick has secured a ride for the Daytona 500 with Premium Motorsports and believes an announcement for the Indy 500 could come at any time, according to a report in ESPNW.
That announcement is getting closer because Patrick said she took matters into her own hands.
“We’re definitely really close on all that,” Patrick said. “A few weeks ago, I definitely kind of grabbed the bull by the horns and said, ‘We need to figure all of this out, I’m sick of things going round and round and not getting things done.'”
“I kind of interjected and made a lot of phone calls and made things happen,” Patrick added. “I love my agents, but sometimes you’ve got to do some stuff yourself.”
Patrick has done some of the better racing in her career at both the Daytona 500 and Indy 500. In 2003 she finished in third place in the Indy 500 and in 2013 she finished eighth in the Daytona 500.
Her return for these two races is almost certain to give the TV ratings a boost.
