Dale Earnhardt Jr. appeared on the Dan Patrick Show for a wide ranging interview that covered a variety of topics, but towards the end of the interview, Patrick asked him if he would want to be the president of NASCAR.
Earnhardt hesitated and said he didn't know, but he didn't necessarily give a straight answer. He did say it would be interesting to him to be in the meetings where the big decisions would be made.
He later said didn't think he wanted to be the president of NASCAR, but he did think he could be "just underneath that in a Mike Helton-style role" or a Steve O'Donnell-style role someday.

Fast forward to about the 16:50 mark of the interview to hear Earnhardt discuss his thoughts on being the president of the sport.
Helton is the vice chairman for NASCAR, while O'Donnell is the executive vice president and chief racing development officer.
Earnhardt will serve as an analyst for NBC Sports next season, but it's easy to imagine him in a management position with NASCAR. He probably won't be the president of the sport, but he could certainly thrive in Helton's role sometime in the future.
