One of NASCAR's biggest names on 2017 performance: "It was kinda crappy, actually."

With her season over -- and her future uncertain -- Danica Patrick looked back at her 2017 with a straightforward assessment:

"It was kind of crappy, actually."

She made her remarks in a video interview with Yahoo Sports (above).

She enters the off season awash in uncertainty. She doesn't have a sponsor for 2018, and she knows if she doesn't have one, she won't have a ride. There are now rumors that Stewart-Haas racing could pick up a major sponsorship from Smithfield Foods, who may want to see Aric Almirola in the No. 10 Patrick currently drives. That, of course, would also spell the end of her SHR tenure.

And, she finished this season 28th in points, and out of the playoffs.

"It's been a tough season," she said, stating the obvious. She then added:

"I've had a great career, wonderful fans, and a lot of good memories. I don't know what's gonna happen next but I'm open to anything. If I keep going it's going to be because I feel like I have an opportunity to do better and have more fun because it's not much fun to be 20 whatever in points.,"

And if she doesn't keep going, she has enough  outside interests -- a clothing line, an upcoming wine label -- to  certainly keep her busy.
