Connor Zilisch has announced that he has undergone surgery after breaking his collarbone in a fall at Watkins Glen International last weekend.
The Xfinity Series points leader provided the update on Tuesday afternoon. He did not provide any timeline for his return to the No. 88 JR Motorsports Chevrolet.
"Wanted to give everyone a quick update," Zilisch wrote on X. "Had surgery on my collarbone this morning to get a plate and screws to help with the healing process.
"Been a tough few days for me mentally, but all the love you guys have shown has certainly helped. Thank you."
The Xfinity Series remains off this week while Craftsman Truck Series and Cup Series teams head to Richmond Raceway. The Xfinity teams will return to action the following weekend at Daytona International Speedway.

This surgery is something Zilisch listed as a possibility earlier this week while appearing on the "Door, Bumper, Clear" podcast. He noted that Trackhouse Racing teammate Shane van Gisbergen had a similar procedure back in 2021, which helped the then-Supercars driver get back to the track in short order.
"I think it might have to be something that I might have to get surgery for," Zilisch told "DBC" co-host Freddie Kraft on Monday. "But in this case, I think surgery is something that speeds up the process. So you can get plates and screws and get reconstructed back together.
"Shane talked about it in his interview (after winning the Cup race) -- had an injury in 2021. He broke his collarbone, and he had plates, screws, everything done, and he was racing back the next weekend. Thankfully, the collarbone is a relatively quick bone to fix and heal."
While Zilisch underwent a similar surgery to van Gisbergen, this does not mean he will have the same timeline as he tries to get back to the Xfinity Series car.
The rookie could return in time for the Aug. 22 race at Daytona. He could also be out of the car until the start of the Xfinity Series playoffs on Sept. 12.
Trackhouse Racing owner Justin Marks addressed the potential timeline last weekend after the Cup Series race. He told media members that a group of people will get involved in this discussion about Zilisch's return to the Cup car. This group includes sponsors, Chevrolet, teams, and doctors.
