Connor Zilisch expands Cup Series schedule with additional starts

Connor Zilisch has added two more NASCAR Cup Series starts to his 2025 schedule.

According to Trackhouse Racing, the development driver will return to the No. 87 Chevrolet Camaro on June 28 for the night race at the newly renamed EchoPark Speedway in Hampton, Georgia. He will then take on Watkins Glen International on Aug. 10.

Red Bull will continue its sponsorship of Zilisch and the No. 87 team during both of these upcoming races. Veteran crew chief Darian Grubb will lead the team while continuing to build chemistry with Zilisch.

Zilisch, who competes full-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series for JR Motorsports, will pull double duty at both tracks as he expands his schedule. The Xfinity Series teams will take on Atlanta Motor Speedway on Friday, June 27. They take on Watkins Glen International on Saturday, Aug. 9.

"It's awesome to have the opportunity to race two more times in the NASCAR Cup Series," the North Carolina native said in a press release. "Nothing beats experience in this sport, especially at the Cup level. Thanks to everyone at Red Bull and Trackhouse for this opportunity."

Zilisch made his Cup Series debut this season at Circuit of the Americas. He drove the No. 87 Red Bull Chevrolet and qualified 14th. However, he ended the day in 37th after a crash on Lap 49.

He then returned to the No. 87 for the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, his first Cup Series race on an oval track. Zilisch started the race in the 33rd position but worked his way to 23rd before the end of NASCAR's longest event.

The trip to Atlanta will provide Zilisch with his first opportunity to see how the Gen 7 Cup Series car works on a drafting-style track.

The trip to Watkins Glen will also provide Zilisch with an opportunity to repeat his personal history. This is the track where he made his Xfinity debut last season and achieved major success.

He won the pole in a JR Motorsports Chevrolet and scored the win after leading 45 laps. Red Bull also used the Watkins Glen weekend last season to announce its sponsorship of Zilisch.
