McCumbee began his racing career at 10 years old driving go-karts on dirt tracks in 1995. During his 20+ years in racing he's competed in over a dozen different vehicles on more than 50 tracks.

During his career he's raced in the Late Model Stock division, ARCA Series, NASCAR' Truck Series, Xfinity Series and Cup Series, and IMSA Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge (CTSCC).

He won the 2015 championship in the CTSCC while driving for retired MLB player CJ Wilson.
