BRISTOL, Tenn. -- Two of the Xfinity Series regulars were involved in a brutal crash Saturday evening at Bristol Motor Speedway.
Sheldon Creed and Brennan Poole both exited the race after a major incident on Lap 73 that destroyed their race cars and knocked the wind out of both drivers.
The crash occurred as Creed was battling Jeb Burton for the free pass position. Dean Thompson hit Creed's No. 00 Haas Factory Team Ford from behind, which ultimately sent the car spinning out of Turn 4. It came to a rest just before the start-finish line.
Poole attempted to check up in his No. 44 Alpha Prime Racing Chevrolet so that he would not be involved, but his car also spun. It slammed broadside into Creed's No. 00 before launching into the air. Part of the rear axle disconnected from the car and bounced across the track still attached to the right-rear wheel.

Creed finished the race in 37th place and on Lap 73. Poole crossed the start-finish line during the brutal crash, so NASCAR credited him as completing 74 laps. He finished the race in 36th place.
"When the first guy (Garrett Smithley) missed me, I was like, 'Oh, I might not get hit at all,'" Creed said after undergoing evaluation at the infield care center. "And then I got hit. Yeah, it just happens so quick here."
Said Poole, "The way the banking is here, I couldn't even see where the 00 was at yet, so I just started slowing down. And he was right in the middle of the track, so I just started to spin out, and I nailed him."
Poole and Creed were both part of the Dash 4 Cash program this week, which awards $100,000 to one of four eligible Xfinity Series regulars. This crash knocked them out of contention and left only Justin Allgaier and Austin Hill in position to race for the bonus money.
