Broadcast date for start of CW Xfinity Series schedule

The end of the Xfinity Series on NBC Sports platforms draws near as CW prepares to take over coverage of the NASCAR series.

CW Sports was announced as the new full-time broadcast partner of the Xfinity Series in July 2023. The first race on the free, over-the-air network was set for 2025 as part of a deal lasting through the 2031 season. However, NBC Sports and CW reached an agreement back in April to bring the series to the new platform early.

As a result, the CW will broadcast the final eight races of the 2024 Xfinity Series season. This includes the championship race at Phoenix Raceway on Saturday, Nov. 9.

The NBC Sports portion of the Xfinity schedule will feature five more races on USA Network, starting with the return to action at Michigan International Speedway on Aug. 17. USA Network will continue to highlight the regular season before CW takes over for the regular-season finale and the playoffs.

This won't be a full-on move to CW, however, as the personnnel will remain the same. Rick Allen will still serve as lead race announcer alongside analysts Jeff Burton and Steve Letarte.

"We have a great partnership with NASCAR and welcome The CW to the family of NASCAR broadcasters," said Rick Cordella, president of NBC Sports, in an April statement.

"This sneak peek of NASCAR Xfinity Series races will continue to feature NBC Sports' critically acclaimed NASCAR production while assisting in the transition for fans to watch the Xfinity Series on The CW full-time in 2025."

While the Xfinity Series coverage will move over to the CW, the Cup Series races will remain at NBC Sports. USA Network will carry seven of the remaining 14 races. NBC proper will have the other seven races. This stretch includes the final six playoff races.

The Craftsman Truck Series, for comparison, will remain with Fox Sports. The final eight races of the third-tier NASCAR series will air live on FS1, starting with the regular-season finale at Richmond Raceway on Saturday, Aug. 10.
