INDIANAPOLIS -- Chase Briscoe will lead the Cup Series field to the green flag at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for Sunday's Brickyard 400 (2 p.m. ET on TNT).
The Joe Gibbs Racing driver won the pole with a lap of 49.136 seconds. This is the Indiana native's first pole win at his home track and his fifth pole win of the season.
Briscoe has won the pole for three crown jewel races this season. He started first in the Daytona 500 and Coca-Cola 600 earlier this year. Sunday, he will add to this list with the Brickyard 400. After that, he can go for the clean sweep of crown jewel pole wins when he prepares for the Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway.

"I mean, I would love it," Briscoe said about a possible clean sweep. "I mean, I try every week to go qualify on the pole, right? I don't know if anybody's ever done all four (crown jewels). It'd be cool if not to be able to do it."
Bubba Wallace qualified second at Indianapolis Motor Speedway with a lap of 49.149 seconds. He was followed by Erik Jones (49.248), Tyler Reddick (49.267), and Ty Gibbs (49.330).
According to Toyota, this marked the first time in NASCAR Cup Series history that Toyota drivers qualified first through fifth for a race.
The rest of the top 10 included William Byron (49.442), Chris Buescher (49.447), Carson Hocevar (49.495), AJ Allmendinger (49.499), and Austin Cindric (49.586).
Defending Brickyard 400 winner Kyle Larson missed out on the top 10, but he qualified inside of the top half of the field. He will line up 13th for Sunday's crown jewel race after completing a lap of 49.617 seconds.
Thirty-nine drivers entered the Cup Series qualifying session. Thirty-eight of them posted a lap. Denny Hamlin, who leads the series with four wins this season, hit the outside wall before sliding across the track and slamming into the inside barrier.
The veteran driver will have to start Sunday's race from the rear of the field. He will have to spend the early portion of the race trying to work his way through the field as he pursues his first Brickyard 400 win.
