The NASCAR driver merry-go-round continues.
Motorsports.com, citing sources, says talented young driver Brennan Poole and Chip Gannasi Racing are parting ways at the end of this season. Poole drives the No. 48 Chevrolet in the Xfinity series.
But Motorsports also reported that Poole's likely landing spot would be Richard Childress Racing and the No. 27 which has been vacated by Paul Menard, who is joining Wood Brothers Racing.

That's significant because that's the ride that's been tied to Patrick.
As @CandiceSpencer, @bobpockrass and others have mentioned, 27 seems to be her best chance. Hearing conflicting info on if funding is there. https://t.co/1zwIzPYEez

For his part, Poole told SirusXM radio that he has no idea what the future holds, but added,
"We've finished in the top-five the last three weeks," Poole said on the broadcast. "So I think that I've shown that I'm capable of doing it and I have the speed and I have the ability to compete at the next level. So I think if there was the right opportunity for me to move forward and step into the Cup Series, I would absolutely take that opportunity."
And an opportunity for him would mean one less for Patrick.
