Brandon Jones reunites with Joe Gibbs Racing

Brandon Jones is returning to Joe Gibbs Racing, the team with which he has won multiple NASCAR Xfinity Series races.

According to a press release, the Georgia native will reunite with Joe Gibbs Racing in 2025 after agreeing to a multi-year deal. He will continue to compete full-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series while trying to work his way back into the playoffs.

"We're thrilled to have Brandon return to Joe Gibbs Racing next season," said team owner Joe Gibbs in a statement.

"He has a proven history of success with us and is someone that we know will be in the championship hunt each year. His veteran leadership will also be a tremendous asset to our program."

Jones, who competes at his hometown track this weekend, made his Xfinity Series debut in 2015 with Richard Childress Racing. He drove full-time for the Welcome, North Carolina, team in 2016-17.

Jones then moved to Joe Gibbs Racing at the start of the 2018 season. This move kicked off a run with the team that featured five playoff appearances in five seasons. He finished a career-best sixth in points in 2020.

Jones also scored all five of his Xfinity Series wins behind the wheel of the No. 19 Toyota GR Supra. His first career win was at Kansas in 2019. He then won at Phoenix, Kansas, and Darlington in 2020. Jones's final win with JGR was at Martinsville in 2022.

Jones left Joe Gibbs Racing after the 2022 season. He moved over to JR Motorsports to replace Noah Gragson in the No. 9 Chevrolet. However, this move did not pay dividends.

Jones fell short of the playoffs in his first season driving the No. 9 Chevrolet while dealing with mechanical issues, tire punctures, and multi-car incidents.

Jones returned to JRM for the 2024 season after putting extensive time working on his mental strength. The goal was to get the No. 9 Chevrolet back into the playoffs.

So far, this has not happened. Jones is two spots out of the playoffs with three races remaining after posting seven DNFs in 23 races -- two due to engine failures and five due to crashes.

"I'm beyond excited to be returning to Joe Gibbs Racing and rejoining the Toyota Racing family," Jones said in a statement. "My time with JGR was some of the most rewarding of my career, and I'm eager to build on that success as we chase more wins and a championship together.

"I'm ready to hit the ground running and make the most of this incredible opportunity. For now, my focus remains on finishing this year strong for my team, crew, manufacturer, and Menards. We will push hard to win our way into the Playoffs and finish the year on a high note."
