Hornish Jr. will drive the No. 22 Discount Tire Ford Mustang for three races this summer.

The veteran driver said he is “excited” about driving for Team Penske this summer, according to FOX Sports.

Team Penske continues to be one of the top teams in the XFINITY Series and I’m looking forward to once again working with them,” Hornish said. “Roger (Penske) and Team Penske have been a huge part of my racing career, so coming back here feels like home. I’m also really appreciative of everyone at Discount Tire for allowing me to take the reins of one of the most recognizable cars in the garage area.”

His last win in the XFINITY Series came at Iowa in 2016. He has four lifetime wins in the series and 61 top-10 finishes.

Hornish’s second race will be on July 29 at Iowa Speedway, and his final appearance of the season will be on Aug. 12 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

Hornish, who won the Indy 500 in 2006, could have more races added to his schedule depending on how he finishes in his first three races.
