Entering Sunday, Kevin Harvick had never won a Cup Series race driving a Ford or at Sonoma Raceway.

Harvick checked both of those accomplishments off his list during his Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series victory on Sunday afternoon.

A late crash involving Kasey Kahne forced a caution flag with only two laps to go, but Harvick was able to hold on for the victory.

Harvick has driven a Chevrolet for most of his career, but he recently made the change to Ford. This was his first win in a Ford and also his first win at Sonoma.

Harvick's win secured his spot in the 16-driver playoff field. He moved up to third in the points standings after the win, trailing only Kyle Larson and Martin Truex Jr.

Truex Jr.'s day came to an end early after his No. 78 car suffered engine troubles. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. also didn't finish the race after a crash involving Danica Patrick.

The next race in the series is Saturday, July 1 at Daytona.
