Victory Motorcycles will be closing it's doors for good on its 20th birthday. Founded in 1997 by Polaris Industries in Spirit Lake, Iowa, Victory was supposed to become the next Harley-Davidson. The upstart company started making some serious money in the early 2000s, but sales have crashed and Victory didn't see a profit in three of the last five years. Polaris promises to help dealers with the liquidation process and will continue to supply parts and honor warranties for the next 10 years. While Victory is shutting down, Polaris plans to keep the Spirit Lake assembly plant open for continued production of Indian motorcycles. In 2011 Polaris acquired Indian, a legitimate rival to the Harley dynasty, it just didn't make sense for them to keep both properties on the market.
