MotoGP racing legend Valentino Rossi will be out four to six weeks after breaking two bones in his leg during training on Thursday.
In a press release, Yamaha Factory Racing said during the surgery, the fractures -- to the tibia and fibia -- were fixated using a metal pin and there were no complications. It's the same leg he broke in 2010.
Still, the horrific injury means the seven-time MotoGP champion will miss at least two upcoming races, and more likely, three. He currently sits fourth in the standings, 26 points behind leader Andrea Dovizioso, making it nearely impossible to grab the lead.
Dr Raffaele Pascarella, who performed the surgery, was quoted in Crash as saying, "The leg is a bit swollen, and he will stay here for a few days before beginning physiotherapy immediately."
