One of CarMax's claims to fame is their warranties. According to Doug DeMuro of Autotrader, they're worth their weight in gold ... at least when you've purchased an old Range Rover like this one. He says he paid $3,900 for a six-year(!) warranty, but CarMax covered car problems that far outstripped the cost. In just the first two years, CarMax paid out $4.700 in claims, but now, only 11 thousand miles from the warranty expiring, they have paid out more than the thing is worth: $15,660... and counting.
For their part, CarMax was a good sport about the whole situation:
As always @DougDeMuro, we’ve got your back.
Bring in the Range Rover and we’ll buy it.
