If you’re a fan of street racing, drag racing, modded-out cars, or just cars in general, then you’ve probably seen the Discovery Channel reality series Street Outlaws. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, then you’re seriously missing out.
The TV show gives an inside look at the high-octane street racing scene in Oklahoma City, introducing a wild cast of characters along the way.
In the above video, two of these characters, Kye Kelley and Justin “Big Chief” Shearer, duke it out in a no prep race at Bristol Dragway in Tennessee. The prize? $100,000. They weren’t doing this for the Discovery Channel cameras. This was for pure bragging rights.
Before this race, Kelley had bested Shearer time and time again. But, on this day, Big Chief proved to be the superior street racer, finally snagging that elusive win.
And, the crowd goes wild!
Big Chief: Street Outlaws and Beyond
Justin Shearer has been in the OKC street racing game for a long, long time. When he was nine, he would ride his bike to Route 66 to watch some epic racing go down. Now, Big Chief competes with the big boys.
When he’s not gunning for the No. 1 spot on “The List” or running the show at Midwest Street Cars, Shearer is showing off his pride and joy: “The Crow.”
While the racecar began life as a modded-out 1972 Pontiac LeMans, it’s gone through a number of different iterations over the years. A few years ago, Shearer turned The Crow into “The Crowmod,” which is a promod version of the car.
If you’re a fan of Big Chief’s abilities behind the wheels, then you should definitely check out the rest of the Street Outlaws crew. They all have equally as cool nicknames. We’re talking Daddy Dave, Farmtruck, AZN, Dominator, Monza, Murder Nova, Doc, and Kamikaze, Oh, yeah, and then there’s some guy named Chuck.
Street Outlaws has been on the air for 15 seasons, and it’s safe to say this show will be here to stay for quite some time.
