After losing a race to Las Vegas, New Hampshire Motor Speedway found itself with an empty weekend on the calendar. To fill that slot, the track proposed a three day music festival held at the track and Loudon, NH officials signed off.
Some local residents don't like the idea, however. An AP report via Patch.com says that locals are invoking a 1989 agreement in court to try to kill the event. The agreement was struck as a compromise when the track was planning expansions. In exchange for limits on noise and traffic, the residents agreed to stop opposing the expansion plans.
Now, that agreement is the key to the resident's complaint. The agreement bars the track from holding concerts that are not tied to racing events.
The challenge is currently under review.
