Lyft drivers aren't happy after this idea resulted in a messy situation

Lyft, a popular ride-sharing company, decided to try a new feature called "Taco Mode" in late July and early August.

Taco Mode gave riders a trip through the Taco Bell drive-thru to get a free Doritos Locos Taco between the hours of 9 p.m. and 2 a.m. The feature debuted as a trial in Orange County, California, and Lyft drivers weren't too pleased with the results.

Drivers weren't required to participate in the trial, but those who did had some negative things to say according to UberPeople.net.

"If you willingly sign up for the beta of Taco Hell Mode you are asking for a cheesy, beefy, and greasy backseat," one driver said on the forum.

Apparently, passengers left a mess in the back seats of the cars, and Lyft drivers clearly weren't pleased.

"You forgot a thousand pieces of corn tortilla crumbs, all ground into your backseat car rugs," another driver said. "And the unmistakably pungent corn/ground beef/taco mystery sauce smell that will be stinking up your entire air vents."

Lyft gets paid by Taco Bell for the deal, but drivers aren't compensated very well for the detours. Drivers make about 10 cents while they're stopped as opposed to the 85 cents per mile they make while driving.

However, according to Business Insider, Lyft plans to expand the feature in the next few months and in 2018. Drivers aren't required to participate, and it sounds like many won't want to after hearing the negative results of the trial.
