Corey Lajoie almost ends Clint Bowyer's day in stage 1

So far the new stage format hasn't lead to any riskier driving than normal. The first ever stage 1 of the Daytona 500 only had one incident when Corey Lajoie came in too hot towards pit lane and had to bail, losing control and tagging the wall when he tried to get back on the track. One car tagging the wall is nothing compared to Daytona wrecks of the past, but this could have been disastrous for Clint Bowyer. If he would have been hit hard enough to require garage repairs, he would not be allowed to continue the race. Missing out on three chances for points.
