Bus Driver Runs a Red Light and Comes INCHES Away from Completely Flattening a Cyclist

Having not done all that much biking in my adult life, I've never been one to really sympathize with the plight of the cyclist. Actually, I'd probably go as far as to say that bike riders usually do a pretty good job of pissing me off, because, in my experience on the road, more often than not, cyclists are usually the ones at fault. Always seeming to hog the road. Never staying in their lane. Constantly sticking their arm out to one side or the other in some shoddy attempt to mimic a turn signal. You know the drill.

But, despite my usual disdain for folks on bikes, I found myself waving the Team Cyclist flag after watching this video of a bus driver running a red light and nearly taking out a cyclist in the process.

Now, if you think about it, bus drivers are a lot like cyclists. Always seeming to hog the road. Never staying in their lane. Sticking out that weird arm-like mechanism, as if that's supposed to mean something.

Of course, a major difference between the two is that a cyclist isn't going to do much damage to a bus if it runs square into it. I mean, that bus driver was a near miss away from flattening that bike rider like a Looney Tunes character.

Now, you're probably asking yourself, "Why was the cyclist riding in the bus lane?" As the uploader of the video points out, "Because this is in London where you're meant to ride in the bus lane."

Huh. That seems like a pretty weird stipulation to me. Makes you wonder why anyone would even ride bikes in the U.K. to begin with. Or anywhere, for that matter.
