From the heated yelling match to the full-blown violent outburst, road rage occurs in a number of forms every day all around the world. “Road Rage Round-up” is a series that focuses only on the craziest road rage stories of the week, and, if this doesn’t convince you take it a little bit easier on the road, nothing will.
In this week’s “Road Rage Round-up,” we go from the West Coast to the East Coast to across the pond for some pretty intense road raging. A couple of takeaways: New York cab drivers are still pretty crazy these days, cyclists definitely have targets on their backs, and kicking cars on the highway ends up terribly 100% of the time.
Motorcycle Mayhem in Santa Clarita
Wow. That looked like something out of the new Mission: Impossible movie. People really do some crazy stuff in the name of road rage these days.
While this actual incident occurred back in June 2017, the motorcyclist responsible for one of the most over-the-top cases of road rage we’ve ever seen just recently pleaded no contest for his role in the ensuing craziness and earned three years of probation.
As you can see from the video, a simple kick from 45-year-old motorcyclist Andrew Flanigan caused the driver of the silver sedan to slam into a highway barrier, and then spin back into the highway, crashing into a passing truck and causing it to flip over.
The truck driver ended up sustaining injuries from the crash, and Flanigan ultimately got charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon, felony reckless driving, and felony hit and run.
NYC Cab Driver Wakes up on the Wrong Side of the Bed
Per Fox 5:
A New York City cab driver was arrested for assaulting a couple and then ramming her car into their vehicle along with several others in Midtown Manhattan, said police.
The assault happened at about 3:15 p.m. Thursday along West 35th Street. It was captured on video.
The cabbie, Jenna Mallett, 25, of Brooklyn, and a couple are seen punching and kicking each other as bystanders attempt to break up the brawl. Mallett then gets back in her yellow cab and the couple returns to their SUV with two children inside.
Mallett is then seen striking a UPS truck and the victims’ SUV.
I don’t really even know how to tackle this one, other then to offer this simple message to the clearly worked-up cab driver:
Car Thief vs. Cyclists in the U.K.
As someone who has had to maneuver around a good many cyclists while driving and having never gotten into cycling myself, I get how cyclists can get on a lot of people’s nerves. HOWEVER, the way this guy reacted to a group of passing cyclists was definitely not cool.
Oh, and the angry guy in question? He also happened to be driving a stolen car. So yeah, I don’t care if these cyclists were pedaling backwards in the middle of the road, this guy would still be more in the wrong.
