If you’ve ever been on a Norwegian Epic cruise ship, you know that those things are pretty damn massive, with the capacity to hold more than 4,000 passengers. So, you can imagine that when a Norwegian Epic cruise ship crashed into a dock in San Juan, Puerto Rico back in February, there was a decent amount of panic from the people onboard.

Video recorded by one of the passengers shows the ship hitting two mooring points, which subsequently sank.

“That’s gonna hit, that’s gonna hit,” an off-camera passenger can be heard saying in the video, while another person adds, “They’re gonna hit this one, too.”

Thankfully, there were no injuries reported.

“No injuries have been reported and guests are currently disembarking the ship as previously scheduled,” Norwegian Cruise Line tweeted following the incident. “We are working closely with local authorities to assess the damage.”

As for the cause of the crash, Norwegian told the Miami Herald that “prevailing winds caused the ship to veer towards the pier, damaging two mooring points at Pier 3 East.”

It turns out that the Norwegian cruise ship — which was headed on a week-long cruise from Orlando, Florida, to the Eastern Caribbean — wasn’t even supposed to be in Puerto Rico to begin with. Apparently, mechanical issues had led to the diversion, and the strong winds only added to the delay.

As a result of the crash, the Norwegian Epic ended up staying in San Juan overnight and departed Wednesday. Because they really had nothing else to do besides be on there phones (and possibly enjoy a few comped meals and drinks), several passengers took to social media to share pictures of the hull damage.

And that, folks, is the reason why I’m completely out on cruise ships. Well, that and, you know, not being able to afford it.
