There are two types of weather in Florida: hot and slightly less hot. The best way to keep cool during those usual sweltering conditions in the Sunshine State (if you’re not in close proximity to a pool) is to get to a place with air conditioning and blast it until you’re basically more freon than H2O.
Unfortunately, they haven’t developed the technology yet where you can just magically appear in a place with air conditioning. You’ve got to get there. So, the solution would be to hop in your car, crank that A/C as high as it can go, and, scope out the nearest place where you can beat the heat, right?
Well, as it turns out, not every driver out there has a car with a top-of-the-line A/C system. That’s where being creative comes into play. And, if you know Florida the way you probably think you do, folks can get pretty creative in the most outlandish of ways.
In the above video filmed in Daytona Beach, we get to see how one driver’s creativity with this ridiculous aftermarket A/C unit got him plenty of attention.
I was riding with my friend Debrah of our motorcycle club, to cater and serve at a local funeral when this car passed in front of us on International Speedway. I said, “Oh my god, you have to turn that way. I have to record this.” So she did and I recorded it.
Hey, as ridiculous as this guy’s set-up looks, it at least gets the job done. At least, I assume it gets the job done. I don’t think he’d just be driving around Daytona Beach with a bulky aftermarket A/C system strapped to the roof just for show. Then again, crazier things have happened in Florida.
