Some sports fans collect cards of their favorite players, others collect shoes. One lucky collector got the ultimate sports memorabilia: A real-deal stock car. This isn't some stock Chevy Monte Carlo with a few stickers slapped on at the dealership. It is a legitimate Winston cup race car driven by Ricky Rudd. It last saw NASCAR action in 2002 and has been on display ever since.

It could have been yours for a measly $17,500. In addition to a Winston Cup-spec Ford Taurus race car powered by a 725 horsepower Windsor V8, the auction included a bunch of Ricky Rudd memorabilia as well.
Check out Bringatrailer for more pictures of the one that got away.
