Your chainsaw should probably never come close to your car (well, almost never), but that doesn’t mean you don’t care about it like the rest of your tools.

That said, check out this simple device to help keep the chainsaw chain sharp and precise. It’s the Oregon PowerSharp system, and it easily fits on the end of the saw. Once the sharpening unit is attached, you run the saw chain through and it helps sharpen each blade. In the below video demo, you can check out the PowerSharp system in action. Sharpening with this tool really is that easy.

Depending on which you kit you purchase (they’re available in 14-inch, 16-inch, and 18-inch), the PowerSharp chainsaw sharpener can fit a number of chainsaws. These include Husqvarna, Craftsman, Poulan, Homelite, Dolmar, Echo, Makita, Redmax, Cub Cadet, Stihl, Olympyk, and Oleo-Mac.

Each kit comes with a PowerSharp guide bar and PowerSharp chain, as well as the unique sharpening stone attachment that’s designed to sharpen a dull chain in 3-5 seconds.

As you probably gathered from the above demo video, the three-step process of using the PowerSharp is fairly intuitive.

Per PowerSharp:

Attach

When the chain dulls, simply attach the bar-mount sharpener to the PowerSharp guide bar. Twin guide holes in the top of the bar make perfect alignment fool-proof.

Sharpen

Press the tip of the sharpener to a solid surface for 3-5 seconds.

Cut

And it’s back to the job, working faster with less effort.
