Burnouts are just the best, aren't they? Not only do they produce a bunch of smoke while mixing the sounds of screaming tires and revving engines, but they also warm up the tires for a drag racing launch. In an automatic car, it is pretty straight forward. Press the brake, press the gas and let the horsepower overwhelm the weak rear brakes and tires in a glorious show of smoke.

Things get a little trickier when you add in a clutch. You have to get the revs up with the clutch in and then you can drop the clutch and quickly get to the brake with your left foot. The revs needed for this vary by car and it is easy to burn up the clutch if you don't already know what you are doing. While it is still very hard on the car, that is how you achieve those sweet, sweet burnouts with a manual transmission.
