Mike Stefanik, Ryan Preece among 40 Greatest Modified Drivers

NASCAR is using the 2025 season to celebrate some standout drivers from another prestigious series. It has revealed its list of the 40 greatest modern-era NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour drivers.

This announcement, which NASCAR made while celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Modified Tour's modern era (1985-present), took place on Wednesday. A press release named the 40 members of this class while celebrating their achievements.

This list includes some big names, such as Mike Stefanik. The NASCAR Hall of Fame member holds the Tour record for wins (74) and championships (seven). He leads another addition to the greatest drivers list, Doug Coby, who won 35 races and six championships.

Another standout is RFK Racing driver Ryan Preece, who won the 2013 championship after kicking off his Modified career in 2007. Preece has won 26 Tour races, including a 2021 event at Richmond Raceway. He will aim for another win at Richmond as he competes in Thursday's Modified Tour race.

This list also includes Jimmy Spencer and Steve Park, two drivers who won races on the Modified Tour and in the national NASCAR series. It features Tony Hirschman, who won five Tour championships. This is the third-most in Tour history.
