Andres Perez de Lara joins Niece Motorsports after Spire release

The Craftsman Truck Series driver lineup continues to change after the trip to Watkins Glen International. The latest move features Andres Perez de Lara, who departs Spire Motorsports and joins Niece Motorsports.

According to a press release, Perez de Lara will drive the No. 44 Chevrolet for the rest of the season. He will continue to compete for driver points and wins while remaining in the Chevrolet camp.

Niece Motorsports also noted that Telcel, Claro, and Infinitum will make the move with Perez de Lara to continue supporting his racing career.

"Overall, I'm really excited about the upcoming races with Niece Motorsports," said Pérez de Lara in a press release. "Making a change mid-season always has its challenges, but the team and I are working hard to be 100% by the time Richmond comes.

"I'm really focusing on having a good race there and feel very motivated with how the team has treated me. I feel the team is also motivated with having me there as well."

As part of the driver announcement, Niece Motorsports also said it would make some changes on the competition side.

Wally Rogers will continue to serve as crew chief of the No. 42 team as he begins working with Perez de Lara. Mike Shiplett will shift to the No. 41 truck, which makes its return to the series starting at Richmond Raceway.

Shiplett started the season with Matt Mills and the No. 42 team. However, engineer Landon Polinski will take over the No. 42 team after receiving a promotion from the team. Phil Gould will remain the crew chief of the No. 45 team as Bayley Currey takes over for the recently released Kaden Honeycutt.

"We are preparing for a bright future ahead of us at Niece Motorsports," said Cody Efaw, CEO of the organization. "Adding Andrés to our talent arsenal is an enticing addition as we look to finish out the year strong.

"While it is difficult to hear of another team scaling back their program, we saw this as an opportunity for our team to grow our footprint in the Truck Series. We have more exciting news coming out in the near future, and I look forward to seeing our team unload four fast Chevrolet Silverados in Richmond."
