A very successful partnership will not end anytime soon. Denny Hamlin has inked a multi-year extension with Joe Gibbs Racing, which will keep him in the No. 11 Toyota Camry XSE.
The championship-winning organization announced the news on Friday, hours before Hamlin began Cup Series practice at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. This news did not come as a shock to the garage, whose members expected Hamlin to continue racing for Joe Gibbs Racing. However, the announcement removed any doubt.
Hamlin, who is the longest-tenured driver in Joe Gibbs Racing history, will continue to build his Hall of Fame resume with the team that originally gave him his NASCAR opportunity.
"Joe and everyone at JGR are family to me and have done so much for me over the last 20 years," Hamlin said in a press release.
"We've had a solid start to this season and we have been able to welcome some great new partners this year, so there are a lot of exciting things happening with our team not only now, but also into the future."

The veteran driver has delivered success this season for Joe Gibbs Racing. He has scored four wins, with the most recent coming at Dover Motor Speedway.
Hamlin's tenure with JGR includes three Daytona 500 wins, one Coca-Cola 600 win, and three Southern 500 wins. He has qualified for the playoffs 18 times while punching his ticket to the Championship 4 in four seasons. He is currently fourth in the Cup Series standings despite missing one race for the birth of his first son.
The only accomplishments missing from Hamlin's resume are the Cup Series championship and the Brickyard 400 crown jewel. He will pursue the latter this weekend after inking the multi-year deal that keeps him with the team at least through the 2027 season.
"I really appreciate Denny and everything he has meant to our organization," said team owner Joe Gibbs.
"It is just really special when you think about everything we've experienced over the past 20 years, from that first moment when J.D. (Gibbs) recognized his talent at a test session, until now. It is remarkable in any sport to compete at the level Denny has for this long and we are thrilled he has been able to spend his entire career with us."
