When it comes to design and engineering, Christian von Koenigsegg, founder and owner of the hypercar manufacturer as well as inventor of the FlexFuel system, will always defer to engineering first. When it came to building a hollow carbon-fiber wheel for their new Regera model, he pitted his engineers on the problem first, with no consideration or ideas from the design department because he knew it had to work before it could be made to look appeal. That’s why on the initial run of Ageras, the wheels were just wheels. But now, having the previous experience from a engineering standpoint, he let his design team loose on the wheels and what they came up with is just as aesthetically pleasing as it is supremely functional.
