Drones could very well be the next step in the evolution of race videography. The sport is notoriously hard to film, and it's easy to understand why. The whole process centers around capturing fast-moving objects in detail and capturing the tension and speed of each lap around the track.

However, a YouTuber, Skinlab FPV, has been using drones to film dirt-track races, which, admittedly, aren't the most glamorous events, but still look like a load of fun. Using Cobra motors and Torc frame, the videographer flies his drone in pursuit of the cars on the track achieving speeds as high as 80 mph, sometimes faster when he slides into the slipstream behind a car.

With drone technology rapidly advancing, becoming more and more accessible, this medium could end up replacing the tradition cockpit view. That would of course also allow for additional safety equipment, which, if we're being honest, isn't a terrible idea.
