This late 80’s Ford ad for the short-lived Scorpio model talks in dulcet tones about the lessons “learned in the German forest” and demonstrates the Scorpio’s superb handling and superior comfort. The model itself was debuted in 1985 in Europe and was brought to the North American market in 1988 under the Merkur badge. It was marketed as a German-built executive car and underwhelming sales figures not only saw the car discontinued in the following year, but Ford was forced to drop the Merkur brand altogether the same year.
