HPA’s custom twin-turbo R32 Volkswagen Golf is nicknamed “The Decathlon” because with very minor adjustments to the engine, drivetrain, and suspension, this exceedingly rare VW can hold its own in a time attack as easily as it can conquer a drag race. One of only 5,000 R32s made in 2004, the rare hatchback has been heavily modified with an Audi TTRS DSG gearbox, the 3.6-liter V6 from a Passat with two turbos, 8-piston brakes, and a host of other bells and whistles that put its horsepower somewhere around 450. The overall package transforms this hot hatch into a proper race car worthy of competing way out of its league.
