On April 15, 1964, a twenty-two year-old school teacher named Gail Wise bought the car of her dreams. Two days later, April 17 at the New York World's Fair, Ford unveiled the Mustang, and with it, the future of muscle cars. Many, many decades later, Mrs. Wise was surprised to learn after her husband was research Mustangs that a man in Illinois claimed to have the first Mustang ever sold, having bought it on April 16, 1964. He thought he had number one, until Gail and her husband showed him their receipt.
