The new RSTs are solid power

Chevy is really banking on gas prices staying low with it's new 2018 Tahoe and Suburban RST performance SUVs. Bro-coasters? Can we make bro-coaster a thing now?

The new SUVs' 0-60 speed will rival the Volkswagen GTI's at only 5.7 seconds. That's very fast for something that tows 8,500 lbs, seats eight comfortably and is approximately the size of the D.C. metropolitan area. Of course, this performance isn't stock. Drivers who want to hurdle down the road in this giant steel cage of American exceptionalism will need to cough up a yet-to-be-announced sum for the RST performance pack. Which they should, obviously.

The RST package will grant this behemoth a 6.2-liter, 420-hp, V-8 engine, with 460 lb-ft of torque. The privileged few will also get General Motor's new 10L80 transmission. The 10L80 is a 10-speed box that's very similar to the one on the Camaro ZL1. And, because momentum is a thing, it will sport some massive 6-piston Brembo brake calipers.

It's probably safe to say that these will be dotting the Daytona Beach coastline next spring break after they go on sale later this year.
