The Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R is ready for its close-up.

It will debut at the Pirelli World Challenge race in St. Petersburg, FL. and then appear at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas in May as an entrant in the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge's Grand Sport Class.

The GT4.R is based on the ZL1 1LE track-day special, according to Chevrolet. The ZL1 1LE is powered by a 650hp, supercharged LT4 engine with a six-speed manual gearbox.

But it's the improved aerodynamics that's the real star here. Up front there are air deflectors and dive planes that produce more downforce than the stock car.

AutoBlog also reports that "the production ZL1 1LE even features Multimatic Dynamic Suspension Spool Valve dampers that give it pitlane-adjustable ride height and camber."

Ready for its close-up, indeed.
