Richard Petty, "The King" of NASCAR, drove up to a standing ovation at the Mecum Dallas auction. He dropped off his 2015 Ford Mustang GT to be sold on the block with proceeds going to the Paralyzed Veterans of America. No one had any idea just how much of an impact his custom Mustang would make. Petty's Garage had overhauled the Mustang's body and powertrain. The car on the block featured a 5.0 liter V8 with 627 hp, a Roush TVS 2300 supercharger, upgraded Wilwood brakes, and aluminum wheels with Continental tires. The suped-up Stang initially sold for $330,000 before the new owner immediately donated it back to the PVA so that it could be sold a second time for another $205,000.
