Mercedes wants to change Americans' minds about wagons

Americans are not huge fans of wagons. This likely goes back to the wagons of the past being nothing more than shorter, boxier minivans. To make matters worse, many cool European wagons never make it to American dealerships. Mercedes wants to change that.

The Mercedes E63 S wagon will be debuted at the Geneva auto show and be sold in the US by the end of the year. Mercedes says the E63 S will do 0-60 in 3.6 seconds, fast enough to leave any stigma of being a wagon in the dust. To achieve such speeds, the Benz employs a redesigned all wheel drive system to corrale the 577 horses from the Biturbo V8.

With all that grunt, this is a wagon that can drop off the kids without shame in the morning and then turn around and embarrass the neighbor's M3 off the line on the way to work.
