Ford Mustang Hits 150 MPH on Dyno, But It Doesn't Live to Tell the Tale

A dyno test is supposed to tell you how well your car performs. It's not supposed to tear it to shreds. But, that's what happened to this Ford Mustang GT during a high-speed dyno test back in 2015.

There's no way to tell what the exact speed was at the time that the tire completely exploded, but the uploader of the video to the 1320video YouTube channel guessed that the dyno was running at about 150 MPH, since the craziness went down when the Mustang reached the top of fifth gear.

If you watch the video in slow motion, you can actually see the left-rear tire beginning to rupture just before it completely shoots off. On top of the tire mishap, the explosion rips off the rear bumper, and damages the metal hub and rear-left body panel of the Mustang. You don't have to be an expert to know that this definitely wasn't supposed to happen.

Whoa, that was some seriously scary stuff! Luckily, no one in the near vicinity got hurt at all, because this could have ended a lot worse than it did, especially considering that people tend to stand pretty close to the cars during these sorts of tests.

Now, according to the video, the dyno was running on a 200 shot of nitrous. When you throw in the speed that they were pushing this thing at, you've pretty much got yourself a recipe for disaster. You know what they say: With great power comes great responsibility. The power part was there for sure, but the folks running this whole operation probably could've been a little more responsible. Just saying.
